3.1.4 学术治理

3.1.4.1 的 大学学术委员会 (UAS) is 的 highest faculty governance body. 它有权力 to deal with any academic issue or faculty concern. 它使 recommendations to 的 Provost and/or 的 President. 参议院成员 consists of faculty 成员 elected from and by 的 regular tenured and tenure-track faculty of each College and 的 大学图书馆, faculty 成员 selected from and by 的 affiliate faculty, and students selected by 学生会, including 的 President of 学生会. 的 Provost and designees and 的 Deans (of any rank) are 成员 ex officio, non-voting.

UAS Regular Tenured and Tenure-Track 教师 会员: Members are elected from and by 的 regular tenured and tenure-track faculty of each College and 的 University Libraries as determined by 的 following formula:

1-19 regular tenured and tenure-track faculty = 1会员
20-39 regular tenured and tenure-track faculty = 2 成员
40-59 regular tenured and tenure-track faculty = 3 成员
60-79 regular tenured and tenure-track faculty = 4 成员
80-99 regular tenured and tenure-track faculty = 5 成员，等等

Terms of office are three years, staggered for 的 大学图书馆 and Colleges with more than one member. Senators must have regular tenured or tenure-track faculty status and 只代表一所学院. Formal joint appointment equivalency can be counted toward representation totals. 常规的终身 and tenure-track faculty will be counted on 的 first class day of 的 winter semester of 的 preceding academic year.

的 Executive Committee of 的 Senate (ECS) serves as 的 clearing house for matters to be presented to 的 UAS. Such matters are discussed by ECS before its recommendations are made 送交参议院. ECS 成员hip consists of regular tenured and tenure-track faculty senators from academic colleges and 的 library, an affiliate faculty senator, 学生会 President or designee, and 的 Provost and designees, ex officio, non-voting.

ECS Regular Tenured and Tenure-Track 教师 会员: Eight 成员 from 的 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, two 成员 apiece from 的 College of Education and Community Innovations, 的 College of Health Professions, 的 Padnos College of Engineering and Computing, and 的 Seidman College of Business; one member apiece from 的 Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies, 的 Kirkhof College of Nursing, and 的 大学图书馆. 的 term of office is three years beginning at 冬季学期的结束. ECS 成员 must have regular tenured or tenure-track faculty status and 只代表一所学院. Copies of agendas and approved minutes of all meetings are posted on 的 教师 Governance website. Agendas are sent out electronically to committee 成员 one week prior to meetings, and minutes are usually posted and distributed electronically within two weeks 会议结束后. 教师 成员 may petition for a referendum if 的re is strong opposition to an action taken by UAS.
