Chinese Language Minor
The ability to speak and read another language expands our range of
cultural competency and communication, but also enriches our
understanding of the world and our own culture.
Program Overview
The program introduces you to Chinese language and culture. You will practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing as you immerse yourself in Chinese cultural activities.

- The Chinese written language has over 4,000 years of continuous history. Chinese characters are used in Japanese, Korean, and classical Vietnamese.

Coursework
Coursework covers all aspects of language and related cultures, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
Required courses for the Chinese language minor:
- CHI 202 - Intermediate Chinese II: Language and Culture
- CHI 301 - Advanced Intermediate Chinese I
- CHI 302 - Advanced Intermediate Chinese II
Complete the minor with 12 credits of elective courses such as
Practical Chinese, Classical Chinese, Chinese literature and culture,
and study abroad. Study abroad courses can count for up to but no more
than six credits.
